Prosecutors Conduct Additional Search on Day of Yoon Recording Release... Coordinating Summons Schedule with Mr. Myung

The prosecution investigating allegations of illegal opinion polling involving Myung Tae-kyun, a key figure in First Lady Kim Geon-hee's 'nomination interference' scandal, conducted a search and seizure at Myung's residence on the 31st. It is reported that the prosecution is coordinating a summons schedule with Myung.

The Criminal Division 4 of Changwon District Prosecutors' Office (Chief Prosecutor Kim Ho-kyung) dispatched prosecutors and investigators to Myung's home in Changwon, Gyeongnam, on the morning of the same day to begin the search and seizure. The prosecution reportedly launched additional search and seizure operations to verify whether Myung was involved in the nomination of former lawmaker Kim Young-sun, whether he received reimbursement for opinion polling costs, and whether he directly communicated with President Yoon Seok-youl during this process.

On the 29th and 30th, the prosecution summoned Kang Hye-kyung, a former aide to former lawmaker Kim who raised these allegations, for questioning. According to Kang's side, the prosecution has questioned her seven times in total up to the previous day regarding this matter. Based on the investigations of Kang and two local election preliminary candidates suspected of providing opinion polling funds, the prosecution is expected to summon and question Myung and former lawmaker Kim soon. It is known that the investigation schedule and location are being coordinated with them.

Meanwhile, Park Chan-dae, floor leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, disclosed that he obtained and released the phone call recordings between President Yoon and Myung related to the nomination interference allegations involving the President and his wife. According to Park, the recording contains President Yoon saying to Myung, "The Nomination Committee brought it to me, and since Kim Young-sun worked hard from the primary, please do something for Kim Young-sun."
