Apple will begin accepting pre-orders for its mixed reality (MR) headset, the Vision Pro, starting from the 4th of next month, with an official release in South Korea on the 15th of the same month.
The Vision Pro is a headset that Apple calls a "spatial computer," which was first released in the United States in February this year. The ultra-high-resolution display system uses micro OLED (organic light-emitting diode) technology, and the advanced spatial audio system employs two individual amplified drivers, creating an immersive sound experience that makes users feel as if the audio is coming from their surrounding environment.
Apple stated that with the Vision Pro, users can interact with apps, dictate text using their voice, or type using a virtual keyboard. They can ask the voice assistant Siri to open or close apps, play media, or ask questions to get answers.
Currently, there are over 2,500 apps developed specifically for the Vision Pro available on the App Store, and more than 1.5 million apps, including popular Korean apps such as KakaoTalk and TVING, are compatible with the Vision Pro. Apple explained that this allows users to enjoy movies, sports games, and games in a highly immersive way.
The Vision Pro can be purchased at Apple Store locations in South Korea as well as through the online Apple Store. Prices start at 4,990,000 KRW and are available with storage capacities of 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB.
Meanwhile, it has been reported that Apple recently reduced production of the Vision Pro. Although there was initially high interest, the relatively high price is believed to have limited sales volume.
