A man in his 20s who assaulted American YouTuber Johnny Somalri, who kissed the Statue of Peace, was apprehended by the police.
On the 31st, the Songpa Police Station in Seoul announced that they had arrested Mr. A on charges of assault.
Mr. A is accused of assaulting Somalri, who was doing a YouTube live broadcast on the street in Bangi-dong, Songpa-gu, Seoul, around 9:30 a.m. that day.
Somalri sustained bruises from the assault but is reported to be in no life-threatening condition.
Previously, Somalri was reported to the police for actions such as kissing the Statue of Peace and sexually harassing passersby during a YouTube live broadcast.
On the 28th, Somalri also posted a photo of former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe with the phrase, "Shinzo Abe, I fought Koreans for you."
