Enhancing Convenience of Legal Aid Services for Socially Vulnerable Groups

Ministry of Justice Forms Legal Platform Council with Financial Services Commission, Bar Association, Ministry of Employment, and Others

[Asia Economy Reporter Koo Chae-eun] On the 31st, the Ministry of Justice formed a legal aid service platform council with 33 organizations including the Ministry of Employment and Labor, the Financial Services Commission, and the Korean Bar Association, and signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).


The establishment of the legal aid service platform is one of the national agenda tasks, aiming to provide legal aid services, legal information, and related agency linkage services on a single platform. The Ministry of Justice plans to complete the platform by around December next year and officially provide services starting in 2026. The Ministry stated, "It is expected to improve the convenience and accessibility of legal aid services for socially vulnerable groups."


Excluding the Ministry of Justice, the participating organizations total 33, including Gyeonggi-do Low-Income Financial Welfare Support Center, Ministry of Employment and Labor, Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs, Korea Workers' Compensation and Welfare Service, Financial Supervisory Service, Financial Services Commission, Korea Domestic Violence Welfare Counseling Center, Korea Legal Aid Corporation, Korean Bar Association Legal Aid Foundation, Korean Bar Association, Korean Commercial Arbitration Board, Court Administration Office, Ministry of Health and Welfare, Korea Inclusive Finance Agency, Seoul Welfare Foundation, Small Enterprise and Market Service, Smile Center General Support Group, Credit Recovery Committee, Child Rights Protection Agency, Child Support Enforcement Agency, Ministry of Gender Equality and Family, National Crime Victim Support Federation, Korea Housing & Urban Guarantee Corporation, Small and Medium Business Corporation, Ministry of Unification, Korea Domestic Violence Counseling Center, Korea Artists Welfare Foundation, Korea Medical Dispute Mediation and Arbitration Agency, Korea Internet & Security Agency, Korea Asset Management Corporation, Korea Copyright Commission, Korea Information and Communication Promotion Association, and Korea Environmental Industry & Technology Institute.
