Samsung Heavy Industries announced on the 31st that it has signed a construction contract worth 358.2 billion KRW for one LNG carrier with a shipping company in the Asia region. This vessel is scheduled to be delivered to the shipowner by June 2027.
Including this contract, Samsung Heavy Industries has secured orders for a total of 25 vessels (approximately 5.6 billion USD), consisting of 22 LNG carriers, 2 ultra-large ammonia carriers, and 1 shuttle tanker, achieving 58% of this year's target of 9.7 billion USD.
A Samsung Heavy Industries representative stated, "According to Clarkson Research, future orders for LNG carriers are expected to reach an average of 70 vessels per year," adding, "We will strive to achieve this year's order target through ongoing negotiations for LNG carriers and eco-friendly container ships."
