Gyeonggi Village Community Festival, All Participating Groups from Goyang City Awarded

The 'Sarangmaeul Award' from the Provincial Council Chairman goes to 'Jeongwon Gongjakdan' and 'Goyang Samsong Sinwon Village Complex 3'

Goyang Special City Garden Project Group and Goyang Samsong Sinwon Village Complex 3 received the Sarang Village Award, the Provincial Council Chairman's Award, at the Community Activity Case Presentation Contest held on the 29th during the '2024 Gyeonggi Village Community Festival.'

Goyang Special City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Lee Dong-hwan) announced on the 31st that both communities participating in the '2024 Gyeonggi Village Community Festival' community activity case presentation contest held on the 29th received awards.

The winners were Jeongwon Workshop and Goyang Samsong Sinwon Village 3 Complex, both of which received the Sarang Village Award, the Gyeonggi Provincial Council Chairman's Award.

Under the slogan "A village where residents are happy, Gyeonggi where villages are happy," the event was held at the old Gyeonggi Provincial Government Office and featured 57 village community organizations from 31 cities and counties across Gyeonggi Province.

Goyang Special City has been listed among the awardees every year since participating in the festival in 2016. This year's award further recognized the Goyang Special City village community project externally.

Jeongwon Workshop was formed in 2021 with the purpose of resolving conflicts among residents through cultivating communal gardens within apartment complexes. The ultimate goal of Jeongwon Workshop is to cultivate fragrant gardens throughout the entire city of Goyang, beyond just apartments.

Goyang Samsong Sinwon Village 3 Complex is also noteworthy. Among the 866 apartment households, more than 30% are socially vulnerable households. This community regularly visits residents to communicate and conducts "Safety Keeper Check-in Activities" to address social issues such as solitary deaths and elderly depression.

A city official stated, "Since 2014, Goyang Special City has enacted the 'Ordinance to Support the Creation of Autonomous Communities' and has spared no support for village community activities," adding, "We congratulate all the awarded communities and will continue to strive for the development of village communities in Goyang Special City."
