Kim Joo-hyung teams up with Gino Titi Kun (Thailand).
On the 30th (local time), American Golfweek revealed the list of 16 teams participating in the Grant Thornton Invitational (total prize money $4 million), a mixed event of the PGA Tour and LPGA Tour. Kim Joo-hyung, ranked 25th in the men's golf world rankings, will pair with Gino Titi Kun (Thailand), ranked 11th in the women's golf world rankings, to compete in this tournament. Kim Joo-hyung, who has won three times on the PGA Tour, is the only Korean player participating in this event. Titi Kun has accumulated three wins this year on the LPGA Tour, including one victory.
This year's tournament will be held over three days starting December 13 at the Tiburon Golf Club (par 72, 6,556 yards) in Naples, Florida, USA. The format is scramble on the first day (each player hits a shot, then the best ball is selected and both play from there), foursomes on the second day (players alternate shots with one ball), and a modified fourball on the third day (each player tees off, then plays from the partner’s ball from the next shot onward). The winner's prize is $500,000 (approximately 700 million KRW).
Defending champions Lydia Ko (New Zealand) and Jason Day (Australia) will attempt to win their second consecutive title. Other participants include Andrea Lee-Billy Horschel, Nelly Korda-Tony Finau, Lexi Thompson-Ricky Fowler, Lilia Vu-Luke List, Rose Zhang-Sahith Theegala (all USA), and Brooke Henderson-Cory Conners (Canada).
