The 'Imdong Community Center' (hereinafter Imdong Center), which will add vitality to the lives of residents, opened its doors on the 30th. The Imdong Center is expected to become a complex leisure and living space for residents, combining community sports and communication areas.
The Imdong Center is a three-story building with a total floor area of 299.61㎡. The city invested a total project cost of 2 billion KRW from city funds for the convenience of residents. The main facilities include a fitness room equipped with exercise machines, a program room suitable for yoga and other activities, and a multipurpose room used as a communication space.
The Imdong Center holds great significance as it was built through communication and collaboration between Gwangju City and residents near Mudeung Stadium. Residents who suffered from stadium noise and light pollution repeatedly expressed the need to expand nearby living infrastructure.
The city expects the center to be loved as a complex leisure and living space for residents, fulfilling their long-standing wishes.
Mayor Kang Gijeong stated, “The reason for the existence of administration is the happiness of citizens. We must ensure that citizens' lives can improve in a better direction,” adding, “I hope the Imdong Community Center becomes a gathering place that cares for the vitality and health of residents. We will continue to do our best to add vitality to citizens' lives.”
