Hanam-si Sinjang Library Holds Publication Celebration for 'Poetry Series Capturing Everyday Life' Hanam City held a book launch event for the poetry collection "Everyday Life Captured in Poetry Series," which features photos and poems taken and written by local residents who love libraries and literature, at Sinjang Library on the 29th.

Hanam City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Lee Hyun-jae) announced on the 30th that it held a publication celebration for the poetry collection 'Everyday Life Captured in Poetry Series,' which features photos and poems taken and written by local residents who love libraries and literature, at Sinjang Library on the 29th.

The publication celebration for the 'Everyday Life Captured in Poetry Series' was held as a result of the 'Creating My Own Poetry Collection' project, conducted with the participation of citizens aged 60 and over, selected through the '2024 Humanities on the Road' contest hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and organized by the Korea Arts & Culture Committee and the Korea Library Association.

The 18 participants in this project learned arts and humanities over five months from June 11 to October 29 and challenged themselves to create their own poetry collections at the library.

Participants who learned photography, writing, and poetry carefully refined the wonderful landscape photos they captured with their cameras and the poetic inspirations that came to mind, expressing the preciousness and beauty of everyday life in the poetry collection.

One student involved in publishing the collection said, “I would like to thank the program instructors and Sinjang Library staff who helped me express and capture the small moments of everyday life through poetry and photography.”

Jin Il-soon, Director of the Lifelong Education Center, said, “I am proud that the citizens who participated in the program spent time discovering the beauty in everyday life and themselves through the process of writing poetry,” and emphasized, “Hanam City Library will continue to take on various contest projects so that citizens can comfortably visit the library as a cultural space in their daily lives.”

Meanwhile, the 'Everyday Life Captured in Poetry Series' collection will be available for viewing from November on the Hanam City Library website or by visiting local libraries directly.
