Gijang County (County Governor Jeong Jong-bok) announced on the 30th that starting in November, it will begin seizing real estate to secure early collection and claims of the continuously increasing unpaid parking violation fines.
The target for this real estate seizure is high-amount defaulters with unpaid parking violation fines of 500,000 won or more.
Since August, the county has sent individual payment notices to 260 defaulters, with a total unpaid amount of approximately 244 million won, completing detailed notification of the outstanding amounts.
Through multiple individual phone calls, the county has guided various payment methods such as cash deposit machines, Witex, and virtual accounts, and actively encouraged payment by explaining that additional penalties and increased penalties will be imposed for non-payment.
While continuing to encourage voluntary payment, the county plans to actively proceed with real estate seizure procedures for non-payers starting in November to strengthen collection efforts.
Jeong Jong-bok, Governor of Gijang County, stated, “We will implement strong measures against unpaid fines to protect diligent taxpayers and realize fair taxation,” adding, “We will also strive to create a safe road traffic environment and establish a proper parking culture.”
