Automotive electronics company DH Autoware announced on the 30th that it has completed its factory in Mexico and is set to fully enter the North American market. Through the Mexico plant, DH Autoware plans to supply key autonomous driving components to Hyundai and Kia, and intends to expand its supply to global automobile manufacturers centered in North America in the future.
The Mexico factory, located in the Monterrey area, is equipped with the latest facilities on a site of 79,820 square meters (24,145 pyeong) and a building area of 21,999 square meters (6,654 pyeong). It will produce key autonomous driving components through 5 SMT dual lines, 4 post-processing lines, and 6 assembly lines. DH Autoware expects annual sales of up to 600 billion KRW once the Mexico plant is fully operational.
In June last year, DH Autoware was selected as a localized production partner for Hyundai Motor Group in North America and signed a supply contract for seven years from March 2025 to December 2032. Since the Mexico plant was established after securing stable volume under this contract, the company expects a successful entry into the North American market starting from March next year when full-scale operations begin.
A DH Autoware official stated, “The Mexico plant will serve as a strategic hub for targeting the North American market as part of our global production network,” adding, “It will play an important role in supplying key components not only to Hyundai Motor Group but also to major automobile manufacturers in North America such as the United States and Canada.”
He continued, “The Mexico plant will provide many advantages such as reducing logistics costs through local production in North America, the world’s largest automobile market, as well as shortening delivery times,” emphasizing, “Through the Mexico plant, we will proactively respond to changes in the automotive industry and strengthen our competitiveness in autonomous driving, connected cars, and electrification sectors.”
DH Autoware produces essential components for autonomous driving and connected car technologies at the Mexico plant, including CCU (Central Communication Unit) and DCU (Data Communication Unit). The CCU is a communication integrated controller for in-vehicle linkage functions and data transmission, responsible for software updates, connected car services, and vehicle data collection.
The DCU is an integrated wireless communication control device for autonomous driving, processing wireless data for connected car services and OTA (Over-the-Air) updates. This component is one of the essential elements of autonomous driving functions and a key part supporting safe and efficient vehicle operation.
