The ‘Namdaemun Market Metaverse’ was created as part of the Tourism Enterprise Innovation Voucher project hosted by the Korea Tourism Organization, in collaboration with the tourism content company MMP, to provide a virtual experience space where users can explore the interiors of representative stores in Namdaemun Market.


Namdaemun Market is one of the oldest and largest markets in Seoul. Because of the many stores and products gathered in the market, first-time visitors often get lost. Additionally, it is difficult to check recent market information online. It is hard to find out in advance which stores or products are available in each shopping area. Officials explained that once the Namdaemun Market Metaverse opens, visitors are expected to enjoy Namdaemun Market much better.


The ‘Namdaemun Market Metaverse’ was built with the cooperation of the Namdaemun Market Merchants Association by directly touring the interiors of the shopping areas to collect information and linking product information by store. Based on accurate information, users can explore Daedo Shopping Center Buildings C, D, and E, Yonsei Accessories Shopping Center, and Samho Wooju Accessories Shopping Center. Upon entering the shopping areas, visitors can check the names and numbers of currently operating stores and also view actual products sold on Namdo Market.

Additionally, visitors can meet ‘Pengdi,’ the delivery team character of Namdo Market, inside the shopping areas. Pengdi was created with cute motions to add fun and interest to the virtual experience space.
