Chuncheon-si to Proceed with Public Grain Stockpiling Purchases from November 1

This Year's Grand Prize Variety 'Samgwang Rice'... Purchase Scale of 937 Tons
Interim Settlement Payment Increased to 40,000 KRW per 40kg

Chuncheon City, Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province (Mayor Yuk Dong-han) will purchase 937 tons of public reserve rice (dried paddy) starting from November 1st this year.

The purchased variety is Samgwang rice, and purchases will be conducted on designated dates and locations (7 sites) in each eup, myeon, and dong. To improve work efficiency, all purchases will be made in large 800 kg units this year as well.

Chuncheon City 2024 Public Stockpiling Rice Purchase Allocation.

In particular, the unit price of the interim settlement payment given to farmers immediately after purchase has been raised from 30,000 KRW to 40,000 KRW per 40 kg. The remaining balance will be finalized and paid at the end of December based on the average nationwide rice price in production areas during the harvest season (October to December) when the purchase price is confirmed.

A Chuncheon City official stated, “We ask for caution to ensure that mixed shipments of varieties other than Samgwang rice are not excluded from the public reserve rice purchase target for the next five years, and we request active cooperation from farmers to ensure safe operations on the purchase day.”
