RaonSecure Releases Open Source for Blockchain DID Platform... Announces Global Expansion of K-DID

RaonSecure announced the open-sourcing of its blockchain DID platform ‘OmniOne’ and unveiled its global expansion strategy for K-DID, successfully concluding the '2024 SecuUp Seminar.'

IT security and authentication platform company RaonSecure (CEO Soonhyung Lee, Jeonga Lee), in collaboration with the Korea Digital Certification Association (Chairman Kihyuk Lee), successfully held the ‘2024 SecuUp Seminar’ on the 29th at COEX, Seoul, under the theme ‘Innovation and Global Strategy of Digital Certification.’

Marking its 9th year, the SecuUp Seminar featured RaonSecure sharing its open-source strategy for blockchain digital ID technology that successfully established South Korea’s mobile ID, and presented the humanitarian contributions as well as social and economic benefits to be realized through the global expansion of K-DID.

RaonSecure CEO Soonhyung Lee delivered a presentation titled ‘Innovation and Global Strategy of Digital Certification (K-DID),’ sharing the vision for the globalization of K-DID. CEO Lee emphasized that the purpose of K-DID is to expand South Korea’s successful national mobile ID model overseas and lead global digital ID standardization to contribute to humanity.

During the presentation, CEO Lee announced the open-sourcing of RaonSecure’s blockchain digital ID platform, ‘OmniOne Digital ID,’ which implements South Korea’s digital ID. The plan is to encourage participation from global developers to enhance the usability of DID, promote related technology standardization, and establish a nationwide network for DID expansion. The strategy includes supporting DID systems for countries worldwide and promoting international interoperability to lead global digital ID standardization. Through this, the excellence of South Korea’s digital platform government and K-DID will be introduced and expanded in the global market, ultimately providing mobile IDs to many people in ID blind spots and contributing to human society.

To this end, RaonSecure plans to establish a foundation to promote the overseas expansion of K-DID and international digital ID standardization, actively supporting developers and community activities involved in the open-sourcing of OmniOne Digital ID. The foundation will collaborate with international organizations such as the United Nations (UN) and the World Bank (WB), which are actively working to spread digital ID in developing countries.

CEO Lee stated, “Approximately 1.3 billion people worldwide lack identification, placing them in welfare and crime blind spots, restricting access to medical and educational services as well as political and economic activities. Through the global expansion of K-DID, we aim to provide IDs to these individuals, protecting them from human rights violations such as child labor exploitation and child trafficking, thereby contributing to human society.”

Meanwhile, at the seminar, Kihyuk Lee, Chairman of the Korea Digital Certification Association, presented various cases and future prospects of digital certification. Sangshik Wang, Director of the Korea Minting and Security Printing Corporation, introduced the corporation’s diverse activities for K-DID’s overseas advancement, and Hoseong Shim, Vice Chairman of the Korea Open Source Software Association (KOSSA), proposed strategies for South Korea to lead open source on the global stage. Additionally, Taejin Kim, CTO of RaonSecure, announced the release of OmniOne Digital ID’s source code on the global open-source sharing platform GitHub and presented the progress and future roadmap of the open-sourcing initiative.

RaonSecure also showcased deepfake detection technology developed using artificial intelligence (AI). This service, which enables anyone to distinguish deepfake videos, has been integrated into the personal mobile security app ‘Raon Mobile Security’ and is scheduled for commercialization within the year. Furthermore, RaonSecure introduced practical training content such as animal-free autopsies on the metaverse-based practical training platform Metademy, AI facial recognition security technology incorporating homomorphic encryption, and more. The seminar also featured introductions to RaonSecure’s diverse products and services, including blockchain digital ID services, integrated authentication services, zero-trust strategies and product lines, and NFT marketplaces.
