The Urban Regeneration Support Center of Uijeongbu City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Kim Dong-geun) announced on the 29th that it is recruiting 25 students for the Urban Regeneration University until November 6 to facilitate the smooth promotion and understanding of urban regeneration projects.

Since 2018, the city has been promoting urban regeneration projects, starting with small-scale regeneration projects in Sinheung Village, followed by Heungseon Village, Ppaebeol Village, the The Dream regeneration project on Kyungmin University Road, and preliminary projects.

The Urban Regeneration University, held annually, is a resident capacity-building education program aimed at enhancing understanding of urban regeneration and encouraging more residents to take the lead in finding resources and development plans for the city and villages. This year, it is conducted under the theme "Regenerating Regional Value through Regional Support."

The education program includes ▲practicing urban regeneration using local assets ▲Urban Area Innovation Expo (Daegu) ▲cases of value regeneration using regional support ▲practical idea workshops linked to Uijeongbu City's urban regeneration projects.

The course opens on November 7 and will be held every Thursday (2 PM to 4 PM) for a total of 8 sessions at Seungtaegwan, Kyungmin University. Participants who complete 80% of the entire lecture will receive a certificate of completion, and any citizen of Uijeongbu can participate. Applications are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis online or offline. Inquiries can be made by phone.

Center Director Choi So-young said, "Urban development and changes in living environments start with interest in the region," adding, "Especially, the participation of citizens living in the area is important."
