Uijeongbu-si Successfully Concludes Urban Regeneration Bbaebeol Village Festival 'Excitingly'

A Vibrant Venue for Community Harmony

Mayor Kim Dong-geun attended the Bbaebeol Village Festival "Excitingly" on the 26th and communicated with the residents.

The Urban Regeneration Support Center of Uijeongbu City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Kim Dong-geun) announced on the 29th that the Bbaebeol Village Festival 'Sinnage' was successfully held on the 26th at Ssamsi Park (Gosan-dong San 117-3) as part of the Urban Regeneration Saetteul Village Project, with the participation of over 150 residents.

The event included ▲Festival Food Stalls ▲Bbaebeol Contest (Concours) ▲Bbaebeol Village Product Tasting Session. In particular, it became a festival where residents prepared and shared food themselves, restoring the lively atmosphere of the village in the past.

The handmade yanggaeng (sweet red bean jelly) and chocolate, introduced for the first time at this event, were village products made directly by residents through capacity-building education, receiving great responses through tasting and promotion.

Park Young-tae, representative of the Bbaebeol Village Residents' Council, said, “The festivals and contests (concours) that used to be held in the village were at risk of disappearing, but they have been revived through the urban regeneration project, and it feels like the village has regained its vitality after a long time. I am grateful to the residents and the city who helped as if it were their own work for this village festival.”

Mayor Kim Dong-geun said, “I hope the village becomes safe and convenient with improved pleasant environment and regains its vitality. We will do our best to improve vulnerable residential areas.”

The city’s Urban Regeneration Support Center was selected in 2022 for the Urban Vulnerable Area Living Condition Improvement Project (Saetteul Village Project) and is promoting the Bbaebeol Saetteul Village Project. Last year, retaining wall and fence construction were completed, and preparations for implementing the house repair support project, as well as continuous support for resident capacity building, communication, and exchange, will be ongoing.
