Seocho-gu, Seoul (Mayor Jeon Seong-su) announced on the 29th that it has reorganized the ‘Seocho Happiness Trail (Seohaeng-gil),’ a walking trail brand in Seocho, into five circular courses centered around forest paths, water paths, dirt paths, and barrier-free paths to make it more enjoyable for residents.

‘Seohaeng-gil,’ an abbreviation of Seocho Happiness Trail, is Seocho-gu’s walking trail brand that carries a double meaning of ‘happiness’ and ‘walking slowly.’ The district created five circular courses and extension courses filled with various sights, attractions, and stories along the paths so that residents can experience a pleasant urban environment and beautiful nature.

Course 1 (Express Bus Terminal Station ~ Jamwon Interchange), consisting of water and dirt paths, is themed ‘A Path to Walk with the Heart of a Poet’ and features a trail honoring poet Pi Cheon-deuk. The trail extends refreshingly to the Han River, allowing visitors to enjoy beautiful Han River views both day and night.

Course 2 (Jamwon Interchange ~ Seocho IC), filled with forest paths, is themed ‘Barefoot Walking Enjoyed in the City’ and features a dense forest trail. Along with this, the popular loess barefoot path and foot-washing station attract residents and nearby office workers alike.

Course 3 (Seocho IC ~ Umyeon Bridge) is the central course of Seocho Happiness Trail, themed ‘Leisurely Enjoying Yangjaecheon Stream,’ consisting of forest and water paths. It is designed for families to enjoy nearby Yangjaecheon shopping district and Yangjae Library, and in spring, it is a photo spot where visitors can see fully bloomed cherry blossoms.

Courses 4 (Umyeon Bridge ~ Bangbae Station) and 5 (Bangbae Station ~ Express Bus Terminal Station) are forest and barrier-free paths themed as hiking and tourist-recommended courses, respectively. Course 4 features a barrier-free forest trail that allows comfortable hiking without obstacles, while Course 5 includes tourist attractions such as Banpo Hangang Park and Gotomall, as well as Montmartre Park and Seoripul Park where visitors can experience nature within the city.

The district also operates a location-based (GPS) service so residents can easily find the courses by looking at maps. By searching ‘Seocho Happiness Trail’ on the Naver Map app or scanning the QR code on the Seohaeng-gil comprehensive guide signboard to install the ‘Seocho Smart City’ app, users can check course maps and surrounding information.

Along with the reorganization of ‘Seocho Happiness Trail,’ the ‘Seohaeng-gil Stamp Challenge’ is also being operated. By installing the walking app (Cashwalk) and visiting at least 5 out of 10 designated locations, the first 800 participants will receive coffee coupons. About 7,000 people have participated in the first challenge, which started on the 14th of this month, and the locations for the second challenge, where participants can discover hidden autumn spots throughout Seohaeng-gil, will be announced on November 14.

Mayor Jeon Seong-su said, “I hope everyone walks along the ‘Seocho Happiness Trail,’ filled with various sights and attractions, to feel nature within the city and find happiness and smiles.”
