Review Rebalancing and Discuss Follow-up Tasks

The '2024 SK CEO Seminar,' attended by SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won and other key SK executives, will be held for three days starting on the 31st at the SKMS Research Institute in Icheon, Gyeonggi Province. The CEO seminar is one of SK Group's annual events, expected to focus on reviewing the results of the portfolio rebalancing (restructuring) efforts initiated earlier this year and discussing follow-up tasks.

According to business circles on the 29th, SK executives plan to review the execution results of portfolio rebalancing, business operation improvements, and SK Group's unique management system, SKMS, along with the SUPEX pursuit culture at this CEO seminar. Around 30 key executives from the group, including newly appointed CEOs this year from SK Innovation subsidiaries, SK Ecoplant, and SK Square, are expected to attend.

Since the end of last year, SK Group has been conducting proactive rebalancing after appointing Chey Chang-won, Chairman Chey Tae-won's cousin, as the head of the SK SUPEX Council, the group's highest consultative body.

At the management strategy meeting held in June, the executives set a policy to enhance financial stability and maximize free cash flow through rebalancing and operational improvements, securing investment funds for future growth areas such as artificial intelligence (AI) and energy solutions.

Subsequently, to strengthen the stability of affiliate businesses and build a foundation for future growth, SK Group pursued mergers such as SK Innovation and SK E&S, SK On, SK Trading International, and SK Entum, as well as integrations like SK Ecoplant, SK Materials Airplus, and Essencore. The number of SK Group subsidiaries (based on SK Inc. consolidated standards) decreased by 49 (6.8%) from 716 at the beginning of this year to 667 at the end of the first half.

Meanwhile, SK Group has traditionally conducted its regular annual personnel reshuffle in early December, and it is expected to proceed with personnel changes around the same time this year as well.
