Striving to Reflect Forum Proposals in Policy
Lee In-seon, Chairperson of the National Assembly's Women and Family Committee, is delivering a congratulatory speech at the 2024 Women Leaders Forum hosted by Asia Economy at Lotte Hotel in Sogong-dong, Seoul, on the 30th.
"It is time for women leaders to establish themselves as the driving force of innovation, pioneering new paths. The wisdom and experiences we share are the true engines of societal change and development."
On the 30th, Lee In-seon, Chairperson of the National Assembly's Gender Equality and Family Committee, said in her congratulatory speech at the '2024 Asia Economy Women Leaders Forum' held at Lotte Hotel in Sogong-dong, Seoul, "Leadership is not limited by gender. Now, a culture is needed where both men and women can enjoy equal opportunities in the workplace and demonstrate their capabilities."
Chairperson Lee, a re-elected member of the National Assembly, was elected as the Chairperson of the Gender Equality and Family Committee in the first half of the 22nd National Assembly. Having served as President of Daegu Gyeongbuk Institute of Science and Technology, Director of the Korea Foundation for the Advancement of Science and Creativity, and Administrator of the Daegu Gyeongbuk Free Economic Zone Authority, she is also recognized as an expert in economics and administration. She made history as the first female Deputy Governor nationwide while serving as the Political and Economic Deputy Governor of Gyeongsangbuk-do.
Chairperson Lee emphasized that systems supporting the balance between work and family are essential foundations for corporate and social development. She stated, "The theme of this year's Women Leaders Forum, 'Women, Demand from Companies,' carries a strong message that our society and companies must more actively embrace women's potential and leadership. As Chairperson of the National Assembly's Gender Equality and Family Committee, I will do my best alongside you to create an environment where women's leadership can shine even brighter. I will also strive to ensure that the various opinions proposed here are reflected in policies."
She continued, "The stories of you who have grown as leaders by overcoming social prejudices and obstacles deliver great value to our society. Now, I hope you will share these experiences and become reliable mentors for the next generation." She added, "I hope this forum will be more than just networking; it will be a place of learning that nurtures future women leadership and encourages one another."
