Broadcasters-turned-television personalities Park Ji-yoon (44) and Choi Dong-seok (45) are in the process of divorce, and the police have launched an investigation into allegations of 'marital sexual assault' involving Choi Dong-seok.

On the 28th, the Women's and Youth Division of Jeju Police Agency stated, regarding the recent controversy over marital sexual assault raised through a complaint on the National Police Agency's online petition system, "Immediately after receiving the complaint, we assigned personnel to handle and proceed with the case," adding, "We will conduct a swift and fair investigation based on the requested materials." The team leader of the Women's and Youth Division reportedly said during a phone call with the complainant that "We are currently in contact regarding Park Ji-yoon's cooperation," and "We will consider notifying the investigation results."

Earlier, on the 17th, entertainment media Dispatch reported on the message exchanges and recorded conversations between the two parties, presenting both sides' positions. Among these, it was revealed that Park Ji-yoon asked Choi Dong-seok, "Can I tell the child that 'your father tried to sexually assault me'?" which caused a stir. At that time, Choi Dong-seok responded, "That's something that can happen between a married couple," to which Park Ji-yoon retorted, "Sexual assault can be established even between spouses."

In response, a netizen filed a complaint titled, "The police must thoroughly investigate the sexual assault case between Park Ji-yoon and Choi Dong-seok and strictly punish them if criminal charges are found," on the National Police Agency's online petition system. The complainant argued, "While the state's intervention in the sexual life between spouses should be minimized from the perspective of maintaining the family, since Park Ji-yoon and Choi Dong-seok, both former KBS announcers, have entered divorce mediation, it appears they have already fallen outside the scope of a normal family." He further stated, "Especially since the reality of sexual assault has been revealed through Dispatch, it is necessary to clearly examine whether Choi Dong-seok fundamentally violated Park Ji-yoon's sexual self-determination rights." He added, "We strongly urge the police to thoroughly investigate the sexual assault case between Park Ji-yoon and Choi Dong-seok and to strictly punish them if criminal charges are found."

Meanwhile, Park Ji-yoon and Choi Dong-seok, both 30th generation KBS announcers, married in November 2009 and have one son and one daughter. They announced their separation last October after 14 years of marriage. Subsequently, in June, Park Ji-yoon filed a lawsuit seeking damages for alienation of affection against Choi Dong-seok's female acquaintance A, and at the end of last month, Choi Dong-seok filed a countersuit against Park Ji-yoon's male acquaintance.
