The ‘SNS Legislative Promotion Research Group (Representative Jeong Hye-young)’, a council member research group of Hanam City Council in Gyeonggi Province, is working tirelessly to enhance digital capabilities and facilitate smoother communication with citizens.
According to Hanam City Council on the 28th, Representative Jeong Hye-young of the ‘SNS Legislative Promotion Research Group’, along with council members Jeong Byeong-yong, Choi Hun-jong, Oh Seung-cheol, and about 10 staff members from the council secretariat, visited the Icheon City Council in Gyeonggi Province to benchmark SNS and legislative promotion-related projects.
On this day, the council members belonging to the research group sought out excellent domestic advanced cases to increase accessibility for Hanam citizens to legislative activities such as legislation, administrative audits, civil complaints and public activities, meetings, and discussions through various channels including blogs, Instagram, Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), YouTube, and KakaoTalk, aiming to strengthen communication with citizens.
Earlier, from August 21 to 22, the research group members visited Seongnam City Council and Myeongjae Gotaek in Nonsan, Chungnam (a national folk cultural asset) to benchmark cases on SNS utilization methods and communication strategies with citizens. They had time to learn ways and know-how to soften the previously rigid image and narrow the psychological distance with citizens.
In particular, the ‘SNS Legislative Promotion Research Group’ members focused on enhancing expertise and legislative capabilities in the digital legislative activity field through not only specialized theories and excellent cases related to promotion in other local governments but also practical training.
In fact, the council members developed practical skills by directly producing video content such as shooting, editing, and uploading to YouTube using smartphones through the ‘Smartphone Media Production’ program held 10 times every week for 2 hours each morning from August to September.
Representative Jeong Hye-young emphasized, “It is no exaggeration to say that SNS has become an indispensable presence in our society. Since every SNS communication is essentially politics, as local council members, a lot of study and effort are needed to open our hearts and sincerely communicate with citizens through SNS.”
She added, “The most important core in the relationship with citizens is communication filled with sincerity. Over the past five months, our ‘SNS Legislative Promotion Research Group’ members have strived to become masters of legislative promotion based on facts and authenticity by learning excellent cases from other local governments and producing videos ourselves.”
Members of the ‘SNS Legislative Promotion Research Group’ expressed their thoughts, saying, “Focusing on SNS promotion not only informs residents of our activities, showing that we serve as a strong support for them, but also carries various meanings of appealing for support. We will continue to strive to properly read the spirit of the times and public sentiment contained in SNS and become a space to open hearts and sincerely communicate with citizens.”
Meanwhile, the ‘SNS Legislative Promotion Research Group’ is composed of five members: Representative Jeong Hye-young as the leader, Geum Gwang-yeon (Chairperson) as vice leader, and members Jeong Byeong-yong (Vice Chairperson), Choi Hun-jong, and Oh Seung-cheol. They plan to hold a mid-term report meeting on the 30th for the ‘Research Project on Activation Plans for Institutional Promotion and Legislative Activity Promotion Using SNS’ and continue their research activities.
