On the 28th Inauguration Ceremony: "Promoting Joint Growth of Industry and Academia through Close Cooperation with Pusan National University"
Pusan National University (President Choi Jae-won) announced on the 28th that Oriental Jeonggong, a shipbuilding and marine equipment manufacturing company (Chairman and CEO Park Se-cheol), has donated 100 million KRW as a development fund.
On the morning of the same day, Park Se-cheol, Chairman of Oriental Jeonggong, handed over the 100 million KRW development fund to Pusan National University President Choi Jae-won at the first-floor conference room of Oriental Jeonggong’s headquarters located in Gangseo-gu, Busan, requesting it to be used for university development.

Chairman Park Se-cheol stated, “Our company aims to promote mutual growth between industry and academia through close cooperation with Pusan National University. This will be a valuable opportunity to bring about positive changes not only in partnership but also in the local community and national economy.” He added, “We hope that through growing and developing together, our efforts and passion will be passed on as hope to the next generation.”
President Choi Jae-won of Pusan National University expressed his gratitude, saying, “The valuable development fund from Oriental Jeonggong will greatly help strengthen our university’s research and educational environment.”
The university president and faculty members visiting Oriental Jeonggong toured the on-site facilities and explored ways for industry-academia joint research and mutual development.
Chairman Park Se-cheol of Oriental Jeonggong said, “In the future, we will actively support establishing a contract department within the university in cooperation with Pusan National University so that our company’s research institute staff can obtain master’s and doctoral degrees at Pusan National University’s graduate school.” He added, “Through this, we will lay the foundation for joint growth between the company and the university and do our best to contribute to the development of the local community.”
President Choi Jae-won of Pusan National University said, “It would be great if the excellent executives and employees of Oriental Jeonggong could share their field experience and expertise with students through special lectures at Pusan National University. We will continue to communicate steadily and seek various cooperation methods that can provide practical help to each other.”
Oriental Jeonggong, established in 1980, is a specialized company in shipbuilding and marine equipment headquartered in Busan. It designs and manufactures ship cranes and supplies them to domestic and international shipyards. The company has received awards such as the 200 million USD Export Tower, Industrial Medal, Busan Industry Award, Busan Culture Award, and Korea Innovation Company Award, and has been selected as an ESG (Environment, Social, Governance) win-win cooperation branch.
Additionally, Oriental Jeonggong has continuously engaged in donation activities with the Busan Community Chest of Korea (Busan Sarangui Yeolmae) and local universities. It is a member of the Honor Society and a prestigious company in the high-donation group called Sarangui Yeolmae Nanum Myungmun Company.
