Police Announce "Plan to Relocate Special Security Center"

Child sex offender Jo Doo-soon has been confirmed to have moved from the house he was staying at in Ansan-si, Gyeonggi Province, to a nearby location.

On the 28th, Yonhap News reported, "The Gyeonggi Nambu Provincial Police Agency was notified by the Ministry of Justice on the morning of the 25th about Jo Doo-soon's change of residence." Jo Doo-soon moved from a multi-family house located in Wadong, Danwon-gu, Ansan-si, where he had been living since his release in December 2020, to another multi-family house nearby. The new residence is also in Wadong and is about 2 km away from his previous home.

It is reported that Jo Doo-soon decided to move due to the expiration of the monthly rent contract at his previous residence. Accordingly, the police have stationed patrol cars near Jo Doo-soon's new residence at all times and have strengthened patrols by deploying additional officers to the area. The special security center that was installed near his former residence is also being considered for relocation to near his new residence soon. A police official stated, "The previous special security center is currently vacant, but we are maintaining the same patrol system centered around the new residence," adding, "We plan to relocate the special security center as soon as a suitable location is selected."

Earlier, Jo Doo-soon was indicted in June for violating the order prohibiting nighttime outings after 9 p.m. by going out for about 40 minutes outside his residence in Ansan-si around 9:05 p.m. on December 4 of last year. At that time, he was investigated to have walked to a security post located about 6 to 7 meters from the first-floor communal entrance of his residential building and spoke to two police officers on duty. The Ansan Probation Office, which received a violation alert from the control center along with contact from the police officers, sent probation officers to the scene, and he returned home after about 40 minutes. It was understood that he went out without permission citing domestic discord, saying he had quarreled with his wife.
