The Department of Dental Hygiene at Gyeongnam Information University (President Kim Tae-sang) held the "20th KIT Dental Hygienist Oath Ceremony and Academic Festival" on the 25th at the university's Miraegwan Convention Hall.
The event was attended by dental hygiene professors, current students, medical institution officials, and executives of the Busan branch of the Korean Dental Hygienists Association.
The oath ceremony proceeded with the awarding of badges to prospective dental hygienists, a candlelight ritual, and the oath-taking. Sixty-nine third-year students in attendance took time to reflect on the professional ethics and mission of dental hygienists.
Following this, the academic festival was held, centered on presentations of 15 major-related papers prepared by dental hygiene students over the course of a year.
Department Head Park Sang-rye said, "I am proud of the students who have grown the department over the past 20 years by following in the footsteps of their seniors," and added, "We will do our best to nurture oral health professionals equipped with both character and competence."
