Kakao Mobility and autonomous driving robot specialist Robotis held a 'platform-based indoor and outdoor delivery robot service' business agreement ceremony at Robotis headquarters in Gangseo-gu, Seoul, attended by key officials from both companies, including Jang Sung-wook, head of Kakao Mobility's Future Mobility Research Center, and Kim Byung-soo, CEO of Robotis.
Through this agreement, Kakao Mobility will establish a delivery robot linkage service model using the robot platform BringOn. Robotis will take on roles such as developing indoor and outdoor delivery service robots, collaborating with the goal of launching indoor and outdoor delivery robot services.
Kakao Mobility, by collaborating with Robotis, which has an outdoor delivery robot lineup, will create the first case of providing the BRING service outdoors. In addition to the previously offered food delivery and mail delivery, new scenarios such as short-distance store delivery will be applied, enabling broad responses to various service demands. The two companies plan to collect data from multiple demand sites through demonstrations and reinforce delivery scenarios for practical services.
Director Jang said, "We have been able to additionally link Robotis' robots, which have various lineups including outdoor delivery robots, to the versatile robot platform BringOn," adding, "By applying robots and service scenarios suitable for each situation, we will provide the BRING service in a wider range of environments, covering both indoor and outdoor."
