Hong Jun-pyo, the mayor of Daegu, criticized Han Dong-hoon, the leader of the People Power Party, who is in conflict with the presidential office over the recommendation of a special inspector to oversee the president's relatives.
On the 28th, Mayor Hong targeted Leader Han in a post on his Facebook, saying, "When the ruling party leadership pushes policies, they gather opinions within the party, coordinate confidentially with the presidential office, and then announce to the public." He added, "That is nothing but childish reckless play that puts the entire ruling party in crisis just to make oneself stand out. It is a futile solo game for presidential ambitions."
Mayor Hong's criticism did not stop there. He said, "The eve of Park Geun-hye's impeachment was like that," and claimed, "The stubborn fight between the president and the party leadership drove the political situation to ruin." He continued, "This is an emergency time when we must think of the party before ourselves, and the country before the party," urging, "Please restrain yourselves and join forces to create a normal ruling party and a normal country."
