Creation of 'Dokdo Lounge' at Incheon Subway Central Park Station

Incheon City announced on the 28th that it has created a 'Dokdo Lounge' at Central Park Station on Incheon Subway Line 1.

The city established the Dokdo Lounge to inform citizens and students about the historical significance of Dokdo and to provide a space where they can reflect on the value of Korea's territory. The opening ceremony was held on October 25, Dokdo Day.

Especially located at Central Park Station, which houses the Overseas Koreans Office, the lounge is expected to serve as an educational and resting space that introduces the beauty and importance of Dokdo to overseas Koreans and foreign tourists visiting Incheon.

The lounge features a photo zone where visitors can take pictures with the beautiful scenery of Dokdo as the background, and a large TV that broadcasts real-time footage of Dokdo.

Additionally, a 3D sculpture shaped like Dokdo and a photo exhibition space have been prepared.

Mayor Yoo Jeong-bok said at the opening ceremony, "It is very meaningful that the Dokdo Lounge has been established at Central Park Station, a representative landmark of Incheon and home to the Overseas Koreans Office." He added, "I hope this space will be used to firmly assert that Dokdo is our land both domestically and internationally, and to provide educational value to citizens and tourists."

The installation of a Dokdo photo zone in Incheon subway stations comes one year and six months after the Dokdo photo zone at Ganseok Ogeori Station on Line 1 was removed in April last year.

In February last year, after a man in his 60s set fire to an artificial garden next to the platform at Seoknam Station on Line 2, Incheon Transit Corporation removed 24 artificial flower beds and the photo zone at Ganseok Ogeori Station within two months.

At that time, the corporation carried out a comprehensive cleanup of flammable artificial flower beds and photo zones for public safety. This year, as part of the 'Specialized Stations with Culture' project, they created the Dokdo Lounge.
