In the men's golf weekly world rankings announced on the 27th (local time), he received 2.90 points, climbing 9 spots from 36th place last week. He secured the victory after a playoff against Juhyung Kim at the Genesis Championship (total prize money $4 million), which concluded the previous day at Incheon Jack Nicklaus Korea Golf Club (par 72, 7,470 yards).
This marks his second European Tour win in total, coming 9 years and 5 months after his victory at the BMW PGA Championship, a DP World Tour (formerly European Tour) major event, in May 2015. The winner's prize money was $680,000 (approximately 940 million KRW). This tournament was held as a Korea Professional Golfers' Association (KPGA) Tour event until last year but has been co-sanctioned by the DP World Tour and KPGA Tour starting this year. Thirty players from the KPGA Tour and ninety players from the DP World Tour competed for the title.
Scottie Scheffler, Xander Schauffele (both USA), Rory McIlroy (Northern Ireland), Collin Morikawa (USA), and Ludvig Aberg (Sweden) maintained their positions in the 'Top 5.' Korea's Sungjae Im held 22nd place, and Juhyung Kim remained at 25th. Siwoo Kim, who performed well with a tie for 6th place at the Zozo Championship the previous day, rose 3 spots to 52nd. Zozo Championship champion Nico Echavarria (Colombia) jumped from 292nd last week to 102nd.
