Gwanak-gu (Mayor Park Jun-hee) has finalized an additional supplementary budget of 64.7 billion KRW for 2024 through deliberation at the 301st Gwanak-gu Council extraordinary meeting.
With this, the district's total budget for this year has increased by 6.21% compared to the previous budget, reaching 1.1066 trillion KRW, accelerating the second half of the 8th term of the elected administration.
The district allocated the budget focusing on projects that residents can feel and be satisfied with, overcoming difficult financial conditions such as the government's tight fiscal management and decreased tax revenue.
Major projects reflected in the supplementary budget include ▲regional economic revitalization (2.8 billion KRW) ▲customized welfare support (9.3 billion KRW) ▲resident safety (10.3 billion KRW).
First, the district allocated 2.8 billion KRW to revitalize the local economy, which has been stagnant due to the prolonged economic recession. This budget will contribute to building a robust local economic foundation through creating over 670 public jobs in the second half of the year for vulnerable employment groups, supporting small business owners facing management difficulties via the Gwanak-type Artterior project, and establishing a fund for small and medium-sized enterprises.
For customized welfare support tailored to residents' life cycles, 9.3 billion KRW was allocated. The focus was on creating a Gwanak that is good for having and raising children, including ▲parental allowances ▲growth and childcare support funds ▲support for renovation and repair of daycare centers and youth facilities.
Additionally, budgets were actively allocated to improve residents' cultural welfare environments, such as ▲relocation of Sillim-dong three-room facilities ▲supplementing lifelong learning center facilities ▲environmental improvements of Gwanak Central Library.
Support for creating a safe living environment for residents was also generously provided. A total of 10.3 billion KRW was allocated for ▲replacement of low-resolution CCTV ▲establishment of district unit plans around Sindaebang Station ▲expansion and repair of rainwater management facilities ▲repair of roads and sewage facilities ▲maintenance of hazardous trees in children’s parks, focusing all efforts on making Gwanak a safe place residents can trust.
In July this year, the district newly established the ‘Park and Leisure Bureau’ and is also striving to discover various contents where residents can enjoy leisure and health in nature within the city, such as the ‘Healing Garden’ in Nakseongdae Park and the ecological landscape improvement project of Byeolbitnaericheon Stream.
In line with the increasing trend of forest and leisure activities, the district plans to continue focusing on creating ‘a healing city Gwanak where flowers and trees are visible and water flows when you open the window.’
Mayor Park Jun-hee said, “Many residents are going through difficult times due to the ongoing economic recession and hardships in daily life, and I hope this supplementary budget will serve as an effective support measure. We will concentrate all administrative power to produce tangible results that residents can feel with the approved budget.”
