Busan City will select the 3rd term of the ‘Top 10 Representative Tourist Souvenirs of Busan 2024’ and hold a certificate awarding ceremony at 3 p.m. on the 26th at Busan Station Plaza.
The ‘Busan Representative Tourist Souvenir Support Project’ is a program started in 2019 by the city and Busan Tourism Organization to select and support local companies developing souvenirs. Starting with the 1st term in 2019, the 2nd term in 2022, and the 3rd term in 2024, each selected 10 items as Busan’s representative tourist souvenirs.
This 3rd term certificate awarding ceremony will be a meaningful event as part of the ‘Busan Representative Tourist Souvenir Day,’ where souvenir companies representing Busan (including 1st and 2nd terms) will all gather.
A total of 44 companies participated in the contest held in May for the 3rd term selection. After document and physical product evaluations, and through a newly added offline citizen preference survey this year, the final 10 companies were selected.
Specifically, the 10 companies are ▲Korea Bio Beauty Industry ▲Cremaeng ▲Nosh Project ▲Tasty Kitchen ▲Mandeulkkum ▲Busan Godeungeo Bread ▲Boas Communication ▲Yeppeun Tteok Oneul ▲Design Mind Plus ▲Ondodam.
Companies selected as the ‘Top 10 Representative Tourist Souvenirs of Busan’ will receive various support during the certification period of two years (from July 1, 2024, to June 30, 2026), including ▲sales opportunities at souvenir stores in Busan Station, Gwangalli, Haeundae, and souvenir vending machines at major tourist spots such as Taejongdae and Hwangnyeongsan Observatory ▲participation in various Busan tourism promotion projects and operation of promotional booths linked to local festivals ▲consultations for design development to create new products.
Souvenirs can be purchased not only at major tourist spot offline stores but also through the website of the 3rd term Busan Souvenir Top 10 Council, which will be launched later.
Park Geun-rok, Director of the Tourism MICE Bureau of Busan City, said, “Tourist souvenirs not only commemorate and create memories of travel destinations but also evoke excitement and anticipation for places not yet visited.” He added, “We will continue to make efforts to quickly respond to changes in tourists’ consumption trends and to revitalize Busan’s representative tourist souvenirs.”
