Yangju City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Kang Su-hyun) announced on the 25th that it held a "2024 Mental Health Day Commemorative Mental Health Education Public Lecture" under the theme "Our Child Who Is So Different from Me (Subtitle: When T Meets F)" at the Hope Theater on the 1st floor of Yangju Hope Library.

This lecture was conducted with the purpose of providing a proper understanding of mental health issues that may occur during the growth period of children and adolescents and guiding appropriate ways to cope when mental health problems arise. About 100 people, including local parents, school counselors, and school welfare officers, attended.

In the first part of the lecture, Jin-young Park, a mental health nurse at the Yangju Mental Health Welfare Center, gave a lecture on "Mindfulness for Parents," introducing methods to alleviate parenting stress experienced in relationships with children by using "mindfulness through the five senses."

The second part of the lecture, titled "Our Child Who Is So Different from Me (Subtitle: When T Meets F)," was delivered by Ji-yoon Shin, a pediatric and adolescent psychiatrist at Uijeongbu Eulji University Hospital, providing useful information for real situations such as the main characteristics of children, "how to distinguish puberty from mental illness," and "how to cope when psychiatric difficulties arise."

Mayor Kang Su-hyun of Yangju said, "Through this lecture, I hope people realize that mental health issues in children and adolescents are as important as physical health, and that they pay close attention to our children and listen to their hearts. If help is needed, please do not hesitate to reach out to the Mental Health Welfare Center at any time." He added, "We will continue to take an interest and make efforts for the mental health of children and adolescents, who are the future driving force of Yangju City."
