Goyang City Conducts 'Baking Processing Technology Training Using Kawaji Rice'

Promoting Local Agricultural Products... Making Sabre Brownies and Pumpkin Rice Cakes with Kawaji Rice

Goyang Special City held a baking processing technology training session using Kawaji rice for Goyang citizens and farmers who have started or are planning to start a business at the Goyang Agricultural Technology Center on the 22nd and 24th. They are taking a commemorative photo afterward.

Goyang Special City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Lee Dong-hwan) announced on the 25th that it conducted baking processing technology training using Kawaji rice for Goyang citizens and farmers who are starting or planning to start a business at the Goyang Agricultural Technology Center over two sessions on the 22nd and 24th.

This training reflected rice processing trends and provided practical baking and fusion rice cake lessons to create everyday desserts using Kawaji rice. Participants made and tasted 'Sable Brownies' and 'Pumpkin Rice Cakes' with Kawaji rice, experiencing firsthand the unique moist glutinous texture of Kawaji rice.

Kawaji rice is known as the first cultivated rice seed on the Korean Peninsula and is a medium-glutinous variety between glutinous and non-glutinous rice, characterized by its stickiness.

Currently, food processing companies using Kawaji rice in Goyang include Yeoldutol (desserts), Baedaridoga (Makgeolli), I Can Reboot (Choco Pie), and Ilsan Rice (brown rice chips).

An official from the Agricultural Technology Center said, "We hope this processing training using Kawaji rice, an agricultural product of Goyang Special City, will help Goyang citizens who are starting businesses," and added, "We expect that the increase in processing companies using Kawaji rice will promote the consumption of local agricultural products."
