Gwangju City in Gyeonggi Province announced on the 25th that it will begin accepting applications for the 4th quarter Youth Basic Income starting from the 31st.
The Youth Basic Income is a system that guarantees the social basic rights of young people by providing 250,000 KRW quarterly, up to a maximum of 1,000,000 KRW annually, in local currency regardless of employment, income, or enrollment status. Basic livelihood security recipients can receive a lump sum payment (up to 1,000,000 KRW) upon submission of proof documents.
Eligible recipients are 24-year-old youths (born between October 2, 1999, and October 1, 2000) registered as residents in Gyeonggi Province as of the application date, who have lived in Gyeonggi Province with resident registration for three consecutive years or a total of ten years or more.
Applications can be submitted online or via mobile through the Gyeonggi Job Platform Jobaba after signing up as a member, from 9 a.m. on the 31st until 6 p.m. on November 29. Required documents include the application form, resident registration abstract (issued as of the application date, including the full address history), and a certificate of recipient status (only for basic livelihood security recipients). If online application is difficult due to military service or other reasons, proxy applications can be made by visiting the local eup/myeon/dong administrative welfare center. However, existing recipients who have agreed to automatic application do not need to apply separately as their application will be processed automatically.
The city plans to review the applicants and provide the Youth Basic Income via the local currency Gwangju Sarang Card starting from December 20 to the selected recipients.
