Appointed as Promotional Ambassador for Dozens of Places Regardless of Academic, Blood, or Regional Ties
Promoting Kimchi and Duck in Yangpyeong, Jeonbuk, Jeonnam, Ulsan, and Goesan

Kim Kwan-young, Governor of Jeonbuk Province, wrote this while remembering the late actress Kim Soo-mi on the 25th. In 2022, Jeonbuk Province appointed honorary ambassadors including actress Kim Soo-mi from Gunsan, actor Kim Sung-hwan, singer Hyun-sook from Gimje, singer Song Dae-gwan from Jeongeup, singer Jin-sung from Buan, and singer Kim Yong-im from Iksan. Kim Soo-mi was born in Gunsan, completed elementary school there, and then moved to Seoul.
Kim Soo-mi accepted ambassador roles wherever needed, regardless of school ties, blood relations, or regional connections. Most honorary ambassador positions are unpaid honorary roles. She was appointed as an ambassador in dozens of cases. Last year, Ulsan City appointed Kim Soo-mi, who resembles the city of Ulsan, as an ambassador. Ulsan Mayor Kim Doo-kyum posted a memorial message along with a photo from the appointment ceremony, saying, "We sincerely pray for the deceased’s happiness in the afterlife."

Kim Soo-mi also served as an ambassador for Yangpyeong County. At the appointment ceremony in February last year, she said, "I am pleased to be appointed as the ambassador for Yangpyeong County, which has clear water and clean air," and added, "I will do my best to promote Yangpyeong with the specially made ambassador business cards." In the same month, she was appointed as the honorary ambassador for kimchi by the Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corporation (aT).
Kim Soo-mi showed her special affection for kimchi by launching ‘Kim Soo-mi’s Mom’s Thoughts Kimchi’ and worked as a taste ambassador for 7-Eleven, even planning ‘Sumi’s Aged Kimchi Stew Ramen.’ aT said, "This honorary ambassador appointment is especially meaningful as it was made through actress Kim Soo-mi’s love for kimchi and her talent donation," and added, "We will take the lead in promoting the excellence and value of kimchi worldwide."

In 2022, she was appointed as an ambassador by Gwangju Metropolitan City for the ‘29th Gwangju World Kimchi Festival.’ At the appointment ceremony, Kim Soo-mi said, "I will promote Gwangju kimchi worldwide so that the phrase ‘When it comes to kimchi, it’s Gwangju’ can be said, and help make it a representative festival of Korea," and added, "I will warmly welcome domestic and international guests visiting Gwangju, which has a kimchi research institute and museum and hosts the annual World Kimchi Festival."

In 2022, she was also appointed as a ‘3rd Island Day Ambassador’ along with Park Myung-soo, Tzuyang, and Lee Rang. At the Island Day ceremony, Kim Soo-mi appeared as a live commerce show host, while Park Myung-soo performed a DJ show at the event. In 2021, she became an ambassador for Wando County, and the Napalggot Group, represented by her son, signed a business agreement with Wando County to revitalize the local economy through the consumption of specialty products. Kim Soo-mi said, "I am visiting Wando again after 15 years," and added, "As an ambassador for Wando County, I will actively promote the excellence of Wando’s seafood and its pristine environment through various programs."
Besides these, she served as an ambassador for Jeonnam Province, Wando County in Jeonnam, Sinan County in Jeonnam, Jangsu County in Jeonbuk, and Goesan County in Chungbuk, and also took on the role of ambassador for promoting duck meat to support duck farms.
