Yeongilman (01·10000) Startup Day, Held on 8-9
Vivid Stories of Silicon Valley Big Tech and Startup Culture
Pohang City will host the Yeongilman (01·10000) Startup Day, where 40 global mentors and young people will meet, at Handong Global University Kim Young-gil Grace School for two days starting from the 8th of next month, in collaboration with Handong Global University.
This event is part of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's Corporate Innovation Park pilot project, which is one of the measures to overcome the crisis of regional extinction.
The event will promote the Corporate Innovation Park and the future vision of the Pohang startup ecosystem, attract companies, and provide an opportunity for Pohang’s youth and students to network with global startup figures.
At last year’s Yeongilman (01·10000) Startup Day, local youth, students, and entrepreneurs communicated with experts from countries with excellent startup ecosystems such as the United States, Israel, and Singapore, as well as various domestic stakeholders, demonstrating the potential of Pohang as a startup city.
Now in its third edition, this year’s event is themed “Design a Life for Radical Giving,” focusing on re-designing one’s life based on entrepreneurship and contemplating ways to practice complete sharing (Radical Giving) with society and the community.
Forty experts and entrepreneurs from diverse fields including startup CEOs, American big tech developers, education, culture and arts, and ESG will engage with young people, sharing inspiration in a special networking setting.
On the 8th, attendees can hear vivid stories of adaptation to Silicon Valley from American big tech developers such as Adobe, GM designers, and Korean entrepreneurs. On the 9th, following the opening ceremony, a startup panel talk featuring entrepreneurs from Handong Global University discussing entrepreneurship and business will take place.
Additionally, through pre-registration, participants will be matched with experts in desired fields such as Handong entrepreneurs, Silicon Valley, global citizenship education, ESG, culture and arts, bio, and social impact for group sessions, providing time for deep and sincere conversations in those areas.
Mayor Lee Kang-deok said, “This year is significant as the year when the global Corporate Innovation Park pilot project and Glocal University were selected, and we are working together with Handong Global University to successfully promote both projects. We hope for much interest and participation in this unique startup festival in Pohang that shares inspiration to change the lives of young people and attracts global talent.”
Startups and young people or entrepreneurs interested in the region who wish to participate in the Yeongilman (01·10000) Startup Day can visit the Eventus website, search for 0110000 Startup Day, pre-register, and join the event.
Last October, participants are taking a commemorative photo at the Yeongilman (01·10000) Startup Day held at Janggi-myeon Changbau Village Camping Site.
