12 Members of the Taiwan Veterinary Association Share Opinions on Pet Protection, Adoption, and Culture

The delegation from the Taiwan Veterinary Association was visiting Korea to attend the Asia-Pacific Veterinary Conference (FAVA), and this visit was conducted separately from the official schedule.
The president of the Taiwan Veterinary Association said, “After seeing news about Banryeomaru Yeoju, the largest abandoned dog protection, adoption, and culture facility operated by a local government in Korea, I wanted to take a closer look.”
While touring the Banryeomaru facility and its operations, they shared Taiwan’s companion animal policies and compared the cases of the two countries, stating, “We realized that awareness of animal welfare and respect for life in Korea has greatly increased.”
Lee Eun-kyung, head of the Companion Animal Division of Gyeonggi Province, said, “We are pleased that Banryeomaru has become an institution that people from overseas want to visit,” adding, “We will strive to enable overseas participation in companion animal cultural events in the future so that Banryeomaru can represent Korea.”
Banryeomaru Yeoju opened in November last year, and in 2024, the number of visitors totaled 8,298, including 819 benchmarking visitors from 111 institutions, 1,831 participants in cultural education, 3,143 volunteers, 1,250 adoption consultations, and 1,255 participants in cultural events.
