Police Chief Jo Ji-ho stated on the 25th regarding the controversy over traffic control during First Lady Kim Geon-hee's visit to Mapo Bridge with President Yoon Seok-yeol, saying, "The First Lady is fundamentally a protection target."
On the same day, during the National Assembly Public Administration and Security Committee's audit, in response to Rep. Lee Hae-sik of the Democratic Party's question, "Is it true that Yanghwa Bridge, Seogang Bridge, and Gangbyeonbuk-ro were blocked at that time?" Chief Jo said, "It is difficult to explain specific security techniques one by one."
Rep. Lee pointed out, "It was rush hour at the time. There were reports of inconvenience due to traffic control: 4 cases in Gwangjin-gu, 3 in Seongdong-gu, 1 in Yongsan-gu, and 5 in Mapo-gu," adding, "The Presidential Security Act stipulates that traffic management should be kept to a minimum."
