Dr. Han Mi-ok of Dong-A University Department of Physical Education Awarded Best Presentation at the Korean Society of Sports Medicine Autumn Conference

Verification of Single Exercise Effect in Patients with Nonspecific Chronic Low Back Pain

Active Research Conducted in the Field of Sports Medicine

Dong-A University (President Lee Hae-woo) announced on the 25th that Dr. Han Mi-ok, who is lecturing in the Department of Physical Education, received the Best Abstract Prize at the 65th Autumn Academic Conference of the Korean Society of Sports Medicine.

The Korean Society of Sports Medicine, with a 42-year history, is the only authoritative academic society related to sports medicine in Korea, playing a central role in both the sports and medical fields. The 65th Autumn Academic Conference of the Korean Society of Sports Medicine was held over two days starting on the 19th at the Seoul Olympic Parktel.

The research for which Dr. Han Mi-ok was awarded verified the "single exercise effect" on pain, muscle function, muscle morphology, catastrophizing, and pelvic tilt in individuals with nonspecific chronic low back pain. This study revealed that the single exercise method is more efficient than the existing complex and diverse exercise programs.

Dr. Han Mi-ok graduated from Dong-A University’s Department of Taekwondo, earned a master's degree in Education, and a doctorate in Physical Education. She is currently conducting active research in the field of sports medicine, having received research funding as an "Academic Research Professor" from the National Research Foundation of Korea.

She expressed her feelings, saying, “I am truly proud to receive this award as a Dong-A University alumna, and I will always do my best to motivate graduate juniors.”

Professor Jeon Hyung-pil, her doctoral advisor, said, “It is very meaningful as she is the first doctoral student from a non-metropolitan university to win an award in competition with sports medicine specialists.”
