Kim Dong-yeon Travels to Europe Following the U.S... Discusses Investment Attraction and Cooperation in the Netherlands and Austria Gyeonggi Province Governor Kim Dong-yeon visited the New York Stock Exchange on the 18th (local time) and spoke with Chris Taylor, Vice President of the New York Stock Exchange.

Gyeonggi Province Governor Kim Dong-yeon will visit Europe next month, including Austria and the Netherlands, to strengthen global cooperation in the semiconductor industry and attract investment in advanced industries, following his visit to the United States.

On the 25th, Gyeonggi Province announced that from the 27th of this month to the 2nd of next month, a delegation led by Governor Kim Dong-yeon will visit Austria and the Netherlands, located in Central Europe, to serve as a bridge for local companies to enter the European market.

Governor Kim will first visit the headquarters of ASM and ASML, world-renowned semiconductor equipment companies in the Netherlands, to discuss investment cooperation plans.

Founded in 1968, ASM is a global semiconductor equipment company with annual sales of 3.8 trillion KRW and is the market leader in atomic layer deposition (ALD) technology, essential for semiconductor production.

ASML, established in 1984, recorded annual sales of 27.6 billion euros (approximately 40 trillion KRW as of 2023) and is the world’s number one company in the semiconductor equipment sector for lithography, a core process in semiconductor manufacturing. It is the only producer of extreme ultraviolet (EUV) lithography equipment, which is essential for advanced semiconductor manufacturing.

Governor Kim will also strengthen global cooperation in advanced industries. He will meet with the Austrian Minister of Labor and Economy, a leader in the ‘small and medium-sized enterprise powerhouse’ Austria, to explore expanded cooperation in economic and industrial fields, and will sign a new friendship cooperation agreement with North Brabant Province, the ‘advanced industry hub’ of the Netherlands.

Additionally, he will attend the opening ceremony of the ‘28th World Korean Business Convention,’ which will be attended by over 3,000 participants, deliver a keynote speech, and visit the Gyeonggi Province pavilion set up at the event venue.

A Gyeonggi Province official stated, "In Austria, located at the heart of Europe, Governor Kim will meet with local political and business figures to act as a problem solver for Gyeonggi companies entering Europe. In the Netherlands, he plans to actively discuss investment cooperation by visiting advanced semiconductor equipment companies as well as strengthening international exchanges."

Meanwhile, from the 15th to the 21st of this month, Governor Kim visited the eastern United States, including New York, where he established cooperative relationships with New York Governor Kathy Hochul and Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin, attracting a total investment of 2.1 trillion KRW.
