The Democratic Party of Korea urged the Yoon Seok-yeol administration to stop actions that escalate tensions between the North and South, accusing it of promoting a 'new (sin) North wind campaign.'

On the morning of the 25th, the Democratic Party held an 'emergency condemnation rally' at the National Assembly Rotunda, chanting slogans such as "We firmly oppose the threat of war on the Korean Peninsula." About 80 Democratic Party lawmakers, including Floor Leader Park Chan-dae and Supreme Council Member Kim Min-seok, attended. They emphasized that the government’s failure in diplomacy toward North Korea is endangering public safety. This was in response to a conversation between People Power Party lawmaker Han Ki-ho and National Security Office Director Shin Won-sik. According to media reports, the previous day, Lawmaker Han sent a text message to Director Shin proposing, "to seek cooperation from Ukraine to attack the deployed North Korean troops."

At the condemnation rally, Floor Leader Park strongly criticized, saying, "They are threatening to carry out dangerous provocations at the expense of the lives of the people," and "They are implementing a reckless plan to bring war to the Korean Peninsula to overcome the political crisis facing the administration."

Supreme Council Member Kim Min-seok accused the Yoon government of inciting war and raised suspicions that martial law might be declared. Referring to the texts between Lawmaker Han and Director Shin, he said, "It has just been revealed that this administration is steadily (preparing for war)," and claimed, "The Chungam faction was conspiring for martial law." Furthermore, he stated, "President Yoon is planning to visit the National Assembly, which he has ignored until now, to deliver a policy speech," adding, "He will appeal for the innocence of First Lady Kim Geon-hee and call for unity to avoid being dragged into war." Supreme Council Member Kim has been suggesting since last month that the government is preparing for martial law.

Park Ji-won, Chair of the Democratic Party’s National Security Situation Inspection Committee, mentioned the 'President Yoon responsibility theory,' saying, "If progressive administrations had continued, North Korea could have been sufficiently turned into a pro-American country through exchanges," and "President Yoon’s administration has destroyed inter-Korean relations." He added, "I urge a return to inter-Korean exchanges that maintain peace through dialogue, as advocated by the U.S. State Department."

Party Leader Lee Jae-myung, at the Democratic Party Supreme Council meeting held just before the condemnation rally, said, "Tensions have risen so much that war could break out on the Korean Peninsula at any moment," and "They are trying to bring a distant war crisis right to the Korean Peninsula." He continued, "They should apologize for provoking the crisis with careless words, like moving a knight on a chessboard," and "President Yoon should immediately punish National Security Office Director Shin Won-sik."
