Yeongju City Expands Circular Trail Exploration Course Around Yongmaru Park at Yeongju Lake

Yeongju City in Gyeongbuk announced on the 25th that the "Yeongjuho Tourist Circulation Pedestrian Bridge Construction Project," promoted as part of the development project around Yeongjuho, passed the 3rd Local Finance Central Investment Review by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety on the 21st, confirming the project's feasibility and making its implementation more tangible.

This project involves constructing a pedestrian bridge approximately 600 meters long from Yongmaru Park in Geumgwang-ri, Pyeongeun-myeon, to Yonghyeol Tunnel in Gangdong-ri.

Design work will begin next year, with completion targeted by 2028. In addition to the pedestrian bridge, parking lots and various convenience facilities will be provided.

In particular, the project aims to connect the currently disconnected sections between Yongmaru 2 Park and Yonghyeol Tunnel along the Yeongjuho circulation route, improving accessibility from the Yeongjuho Auto Camping Site and securing insufficient parking spaces.

The city plans to promote the design of the pedestrian bridge reflecting a harmonious design with the surrounding natural environment, providing a new trail where visitors can enjoy various walking cultures to accommodate the increasing number of Yeongjuho visitors each year.

Mayor Park Nam-seo stated, "With the Yeongjuho Tourist Circulation Pedestrian Bridge Construction Project passing the central investment review, accessibility to major tourist attractions around Yeongjuho, such as Heart Island and Yongmaru Park, will be improved," adding, "It is expected to greatly contribute to revitalizing tourism at Yeongjuho along with solving parking issues."
