9-Year-Old Mun Soojin Who Gave New Life to 5 People... First Donor Enshrined in Memorial Hall

The 9-year-old brain-dead organ donor, Moon Seojin, has been enshrined in Edena No. 1 at Nakwon Memorial Park Columbarium, the Korea Organ and Tissue Donation Agency announced on the 25th. Moon entered a brain-dead state due to traumatic brain hemorrhage caused by a sudden accident, and by donating his organs, he gifted new lives to five transplant recipients who were suffering, before passing away.

Moon was enshrined on the 13th in the dedicated donor enshrinement section located in the Edena Royal Hall at Nakwon Memorial Park, where his bereaved family and Nakwon Memorial Park staff attended to pay their respects.


Park Seunghyun, Chairman of Nakwon Memorial Park, said, "We deeply appreciate and offer our condolences for the difficult decision made by the bereaved families. Since its foundation 40 years ago, Nakwon Memorial Park has led the way in pioneering new funeral cultures, and we will continue to honor the noble act of life-sharing by organ donors and do our utmost to ensure that the bereaved families are treated with respect."


Lee Samyeol, Director of the Korea Organ and Tissue Donation Agency, expressed, "We thank Nakwon Memorial Park for providing a resting place for donors and their families who saved other lives through life-sharing, and the Busan Honors MJF Lions Club for providing the Edena exclusive columbarium urns. The agency will always stand by the donors and accompany them on the path of sharing sacred life at the end of life."


In August, Nakwon Memorial Park agreed to donate 10 columbarium units annually for brain-dead organ donors, and the Busan Honors MJF Lions Club agreed to donate 10 Edena exclusive columbarium urns called 'Nob' annually for five years, signing a tripartite business agreement with the agency.
