Security Concerns in Healthcare... 'K-Health Future Task Force' Leads R&D

'Korean-style ARPA-H Project Promotion Team'
Announcing New Organization Name Reflecting Korean Identity

The Korea Health Industry Development Institute's Korean-style ARPA-H Project Promotion Team announced its new organization name, ‘K-Health Future Promotion Team,’ on the 23rd.

Security Concerns in Healthcare... 'K-Health Future Task Force' Leads R&D

The Korean-style ARPA-H project is a high-risk, high-reward national research and development (R&D) initiative in the healthcare sector, modeled after the United States' Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health (ARPA-H). It officially launched in April as a direct organization under the president of the Korea Health Industry Development Institute.

Shortly after its launch, in May, the Promotion Team held a nationwide contest to select the team’s name and logo. Among a total of 488 submissions (354 for the name and 134 for the logo), the grand prize-winning name ‘K-Mirae’ was finalized as ‘K-Health Future Promotion Team’ to emphasize healthcare expertise. The term Mirae (MIRAE) is an English acronym for 'Medical Innovation and ReseArch Evolution,' reflecting the team’s goal and aspiration to lead the future medical field through innovation in healthcare research.

The logo visualizes the project slogan, ‘Bold Move, Better Future,’ through a dynamic graphic form and is designed in the shape of the English initials K and H, representing Korea and Health, respectively. The colors harmoniously use red and blue from the Taegeuk symbol, which represents Korea.

Seon Kyung, head of the Promotion Team, stated, “Our project began by benchmarking the U.S. ARPA-H’s innovative challenge-type R&D in healthcare, but we needed a new organization name with our own identity suited to Korea’s systems and culture. Thanks to the many diverse ideas proposed by the public, we have created an excellent organization name and logo that well represent the project’s goals and meaning. We will continue to promote innovative research that leads the future healthcare sector, worthy of the name K-Health Future Promotion Team created by the people.”

The Promotion Team plans to maintain the project name ‘Korean-style ARPA-H Project’ as specified in government budget and related regulations, but will reflect the changed organization name when the Development Institute’s organizational structure is revised.
