IKEA is holding a special exhibition titled “IKEA Korea, 10 Years of Journey ? A Dialogue with Hanok” at the Hanok gallery ‘Hogyeongjae’ located in Bukchon, Jongno-gu, Seoul, until the 26th. Celebrating IKEA’s 10th anniversary in Korea, this exhibition emphasizes the harmony between modern furniture design and Hanok. In the annex expressing the ‘excitement of the first meeting,’ elements such as cushions made using the ‘Dutog curtain’ and traditional Korean patchwork (jogakbo) are installed, reinterpreted with a modern sensibility. The main house’s theme is ‘the process of getting to know each other,’ symbolizing the time IKEA has introduced Swedish identity to Korea over the past 10 years. For this, representative IKEA products such as the ‘M?rrvillonga table and bench’ and the ‘Strandmon wing chair and footstool’ are arranged to harmonize with the beauty of Hanok’s empty space. The inner quarters express ‘complete fusion’ by placing products from the Nutilverkad collection, which reinterpret IKEA’s iconic designs, including the ‘Po?ng low-back armchair’ and the ‘Djublinge swivel armchair.’

IKEA Korea explained, “The encounter with Hanok began with the harmony between Hanok’s unique restrained beauty and IKEA’s democratic design principles, which balance design, function, quality, sustainability, and low price. The journey where IKEA, like a foreign stranger, naturally blends with the peaceful Hanok aligns with IKEA’s time over the past 10 years, presenting diverse home furnishing inspirations to Korean people.”

Hanssem is also holding an exhibition titled “Check in at Hotel Hanssem” at the Bukchon Hanok gallery ‘Jiwooheon’ until the 26th. Emphasizing ‘rest’ by preserving the serene image of Hanok, Hanssem designed the space so that customers can directly experience the products and learn about the features of hotel beds and sofas. To allow people to enjoy the comfort and atmosphere of a hotel at home amid busy daily life, the flow is designed to sequentially experience the hotel room on the first floor and the hotel lounge on the second floor as if checking in at an actual hotel.

On the first floor, Hanssem’s ‘Serene Charcoal hotel bed,’ ‘Traum Lato natural leather sofa,’ and ‘Leaf recliner sofa’ are arranged to create a cozy hotel room atmosphere. The Serene Charcoal hotel bed features a high headboard, with the advantage of freely combining wall panels and lighting to customize the bedroom according to personal taste. The sofas help relaxation by adjusting the angles of the backrest and leg rest. On the second-floor lounge, a collaboration exhibition featuring lacquerware crafts themed on rest and relaxation is also held.
