Trump Holds 1% Point Lead Over Harris in 'Key Battleground' Pennsylvania

According to a poll conducted by Emerson University on the 21st and 22nd targeting 860 Pennsylvania voters and released on the 24th (local time), former President Trump recorded a support rate of 49% (margin of error ±3.4 percentage points). This is 1 percentage point ahead of the 48% who responded that they support Vice President Harris.

In last month's poll, former President Trump's support rate was tied with Vice President Harris at 48%, but he succeeded in overtaking her within a month.

By age group, 57% of respondents under 50 supported Vice President Harris, while 39% supported former President Trump. Conversely, among those aged 50 and above, former President Trump's support rate was 57%, ahead of Vice President Harris's 41%.

Pennsylvania is considered the most fiercely contested among the seven key battleground states that will decide the outcome of the U.S. presidential election on November 5. The U.S. presidential election is determined not by the total popular vote but by the number of electoral votes secured based on each state's election results. Pennsylvania has 19 electoral votes, the highest among battleground states, leading to the saying that the candidate who wins Pennsylvania will enter the White House.

Currently, Vice President Harris and former President Trump are engaged in an extremely close race with unpredictable results. However, as the election approaches, poll results showing former President Trump overtaking Vice President Harris in support have been released consecutively.

According to a poll released the previous day by Forbes, a U.S. economic magazine, and HarrisX, a polling firm, former President Trump recorded a support rate of 51%, leading Vice President Harris (49%) by 2 percentage points. In last month's poll, Vice President Harris led by 4 percentage points, but former President Trump succeeded in reversing the lead within a month. A poll by the U.S. economic daily The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) also showed former President Trump's support rate at 47%, ahead of Vice President Harris's 45% by 2 percentage points.
