[Review] Clear Display on Solar Power Too: 'GalTab S10 Ultra'... Even 'Crooked' Handwriting Gets Aligned

No Exterior Change from Previous Premium S9 Ultra
Anti-Reflective Coating Reduces Glare and Sunlight Reflection
Large Screen Enhances AI Usage...Refines Handwriting

From the perspective of someone who has long used the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite for watching videos and as an e-book reader, the S10 Ultra distinctly felt the weight typical of a premium device. However, compared to the previous model, the Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra, there was little difference in appearance except for a slightly thinner profile. One noticeable feature was the low-reflective coating that provided a clear screen even in bright environments. Additionally, being able to utilize Galaxy AI on the large screen enhanced the usability of AI functions significantly.

A Slightly Lighter Weight... No Exterior Changes Compared to the Previous Model

The Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra weighs 723g for the 5G model and 718g for the Wi-Fi model, with dimensions of 208.6×326.4 mm, a 14.6-inch screen, and a thickness of 5.4 mm. Compared to the previous Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra (Wi-Fi 732g, 5G 737g), the weight has decreased slightly, but the size and thickness differences are minimal (thickness 5.5 mm → 5.4 mm). For users expecting exterior changes, there may be little appeal.

The ‘Moonstone Gray’ color is a dark gray with a slight bluish tint. The S Pen provided with the device is a pastel sky blue. When charging the battery with a Samsung laptop fast charger, it took 141 minutes to fully charge from 0% to 100%. The battery capacity remains the same as the previous model at 11,200 mAh.

Low-Reflective Coated Screen... Enhanced Immersion in Video Viewing with Sound Settings
[Review] Clear Display on Solar Power Too: 'GalTab S10 Ultra'... Even 'Crooked' Handwriting Gets Aligned I turned on the LED stand and compared the translucency between the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite (left) and the Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra. The Galaxy Tab S6 Lite showed more severe light reflection. Photo by Seoyul Hwang chestnut@

One of the best aspects of using the Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra was that it maintained a clear screen despite changes in the environment. I placed it side by side with the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite at home and turned on LED lighting. The S6 Lite’s screen directly reflected the LED light, but the S10 Ultra’s screen absorbed the light and emitted it softly. Also, the reflection of the user on the screen was much less on the S10 Ultra. This is thanks to the anti-reflective (AR) coating applied to this new product. Using the tablet without a protective film seems to maximize its performance.

The sound is rich and three-dimensional. Especially in this series, an AI-based sound setting feature is included, and the ‘Hear Conversations Clearly’ function was quite useful. This feature can be activated in the settings menu under ‘Sound Quality and Effects.’ It seems particularly helpful when watching dramas where background music overlaps with dialogue. The menu also offers Dolby Atmos (sound spreading in all directions), equalizer, volume leveling, and sound quality optimization functions.

Using Galaxy AI on a Large Screen... Smart Correction of ‘Messy’ Handwriting
[Review] Clear Display on Solar Power Too: 'GalTab S10 Ultra'... Even 'Crooked' Handwriting Gets Aligned I tried taking notes while recording a Ted video using the 'Note' app on the Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra. Afterwards, when the recorded audio was converted to text by AI, I was able to see both the handwritten notes and the transcribed lecture content simultaneously.

Using the AI functions from mobile Galaxy devices on a large screen greatly improved usability. Many people carry tablets as secondary devices for taking notes in university lectures or meetings, and the AI features in the ‘Notes’ app were very useful in these cases. After recording and taking notes, using the AI function to execute ‘Text Conversion’ automatically converts the voice content into text on the right side of the handwritten memo. Since translation and summarization functions are also supported, it is a great advantage to be able to see handwritten notes and text-based lecture content at a glance.

The ‘Sketch Conversion’ feature, which creates detailed drawings from sketches, was also more fun and produced more diverse results on the tablet’s larger screen than on a small mobile screen.

[Review] Clear Display on Solar Power Too: 'GalTab S10 Ultra'... Even 'Crooked' Handwriting Gets Aligned I tried using the Smart Guide Line feature in the 'Note' app on the Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra. It automatically aligns handwritten notes that are far from the Smart Guide Line neatly. Photo by Seoyul Hwang chestnut@

The feature that neatly organizes handwriting was also quite useful. When the ‘Smart Guide Line’ function is activated, characters that stray from the lines are automatically aligned, and line alignment, word spacing adjustment, and character shape correction functions can be turned on or off in the settings. However, the ‘Character Shape Correction’ function was not very noticeable unless the handwriting was significantly messy.
