Gyeonggi-do Northern Autonomous Police Discuss Public Safety Issues with 13 Local Police Stations The Gyeonggi-do Northern Autonomous Police Committee is conducting communication roundtable meetings with 13 police stations in the northern Gyeonggi region and public safety cooperation organizations.

The Gyeonggi Northern Autonomous Police Committee (Chairman Lee Sang-ro, hereinafter referred to as the Committee) announced on the 23rd that it has concluded communication meetings with 13 police stations in the northern Gyeonggi area and public safety cooperation organizations.

These meetings were held at 13 police stations in northern Gyeonggi, starting with Guri Police Station on August 26 and ending with Dongducheon Police Station on September 27. Representatives and officials from public safety cooperation organizations gathered at each police station to discuss local community safety issues and improvement measures.

More than 150 participants attended the meetings, during which over 70 requests and suggestions were received. Major proposals included ▲ securing offices and equipment support for the Autonomous Crime Prevention Union, providing new uniforms for new members, and improving training methods ▲ difficulties in recruiting new members for the Model Drivers Association and the need to improve public awareness of hand signals during traffic control ▲ resolving safety issues around schools by the Green Mothers’ Association and the necessity of campaigns and joint patrols to eliminate hazards caused by Personal Mobility devices (PM) and two-wheeled vehicles ▲ strengthening promotion to recruit new members for the Parent Police and expanding education by School Police Officers (SPO) on issues such as deepfake and youth drug abuse.

Based on the opinions presented at the meetings, the Committee plans to strengthen support for public safety cooperation organizations and implement safety policies tailored to the characteristics of the northern Gyeonggi region.

To improve hazardous environments caused by Personal Mobility devices (PM) near school zones, which was raised during the meetings, the Committee will designate pilot zones within northern Gyeonggi and establish no-parking zones within a certain range around schools to ensure that students are not exposed to danger during school commute times.

Lee Kyung-ja, Secretary General of the Gyeonggi Northern Autonomous Police Committee, stated, "This was a valuable opportunity to hear the vivid opinions of public safety cooperation organizations, which play a key role in local security, and to seek solutions together. We will continue to create a safe community through close cooperation with these organizations."
