Nowon-gu, Seoul (Mayor Oh Seung-rok) announced that it will hold the 'LOLOLO Youth Festival' on November 1.
LOLOLO is an acronym derived from the first letters of 'Neo-wa Na-ui Nowon' (You and My Nowon), which has been used in names such as the LOLOLO Art Fair and the Contemporary Art Festival, and this year it will be branded as the name of the youth festival.
The festival, held at the so-called Gongridan-gil and Gyeongchun Line Gongneung Forest Trail (near Dongsin Apartment to Hyundai Sungwoo Apartment), was planned to create a sense of solidarity through youth empathy in a place that young people are paying attention to as the largest 'hot place' in the northeastern area.
The main contents of the festival include ▲LOLOLO Youth Song Festival and performances by local young artists ▲Zero Waste Market ▲Talk show (YouTuber Heecheol-ism), comedy performance (comedian Park Semi) ▲LOLOLO Contemporary Art Festival and Art Fair.
First, the Youth Song Festival is a competition held for the first time this year, where seven teams of young people from Nowon who passed the preliminary round will take the stage to compete for a total prize of 3 million won. Before the song festival, university clubs in the area and young artists based in Nowon-gu will showcase the charm of various genres such as acoustic, magic, vocal music, and dance.
The Zero Waste Market will operate an eco-friendly flea market in collaboration with the Nowon Green Campus Town Project Group. It was planned to create an opportunity for the youth, who are sensitive to the climate crisis, to participate in carbon neutrality practices together.
In addition, various institutions and organizations such as the 'Seoul Youth Center Nowon,' 'Youth Tomorrow,' and 'Youth Empathy' will also participate to solve youth concerns and expand connections with various youth policies.
On the main stage, events such as talk shows and comedy performances were added between performances. YouTuber Heecheol-ism will communicate with stories that young people are curious about and stories that give strength, and rapper 'Dumbfounded' will deliver a passionate performance before the awards ceremony of the Youth Song Festival.
The two events symbolizing the youth of the cultural city Nowon, the LOLOLO Art Fair and the Contemporary Art Festival, will also create synergy this year in connection with the youth festival.
At the LOLOLO Art Fair, about 40 works by young and emerging artists carefully selected through a prior call will be exhibited at 'Culture Salon 5120' (basement level 1 of Gongneung Happy Housing).
The district supports participating artists with space and promotion, and if a sale is made, the full amount of the sales proceeds will go to the artists.
At the Contemporary Art Festival, 11 contemporary art works by emerging artists will be exhibited, turning the Gyeongchun Line Gongneung Forest Trail (Dongsan High School to Gongneung Happy Housing) area into an outdoor gallery. The Art Fair and Contemporary Art Festival will continue from October 29 to November 3.
Oh Seung-rok, Mayor of Nowon-gu, said about this festival, "It is the point where two district administration goals meet: making Nowon a 'cultural city with youthful sensibility' and having youth participate in the local community as agents of the present and future," adding, "Through a festival planned directly by youth, we will create a virtuous cycle of the local youth cultural ecosystem."
