Yeongdeungpo-gu (District Mayor Choi Ho-kwon) announced that it will hold the grand opening ceremony of the 1st ‘Yeongdeungpo Seonyudowon Festival’ at 7 PM on October 25th on the lawn of Seonyudo Park, offering romance and emotion to the residents attending the festival.

The ‘Yeongdeungpo Seonyudowon Festival’ is held at Seonyudo Park, which means ‘a place where immortals travel.’ As this is the festival’s inaugural year, the opening ceremony will blend culture, art, emotion, and stories to provide residents with special memories.

The opening ceremony will begin with hosting by KBS announcer Baek Seung-ju and an opening declaration by Yeongdeungpo District Mayor Choi Ho-kwon. The opening performance will start with a piano recital by the Korean Liszt Association, filled with clear and pure souls. Following this, the male choir ‘Ropeka’ will deliver a magnificent chorus with deep voices that evoke autumnal emotions. Finally, the ceremony will conclude with a performance and talk by the national singer representing autumn, Choi Baek-ho, gifting the residents a time of peace and comfort.

In addition to the opening ceremony, at 6 PM on the 26th, a feast of classical and traditional Korean music will offer a healing time to festival visitors. The Yeongdeungpo Youth Chamber Orchestra will perform, accompanied by the delicate sounds of gayageum played by Joo Bo-ra, and beautiful melodies woven by pianist Kim Jeong-won on the piano keys.

At noon on the 26th, the ‘Walkable Street’ area near exits 2 and 3 of Seonyudo Station will host the opening ceremony of the ‘October Seonyu’ festival. Since the main participants of ‘October Seonyu’ are local residents, performances by residents and events for all generations to participate in are prepared. A surprise appearance by the popular character ‘Bellygom’ is also planned.

Yeongdeungpo District Mayor Choi Ho-kwon said, “The inaugural ‘Yeongdeungpo Seonyudowon Festival’ has been thoroughly prepared so that visitors can enjoy rest, culture, and emotion in nature during the opening ceremony,” adding, “I hope everyone fully experiences the fresh autumn atmosphere at Seonyudo Park and creates precious memories.”
