Korea Arts & Culture Education Service Raises 200 Million KRW in Donations Through 'Night of Arts Patrons'

The Korea Arts & Culture Education Service (hereinafter Arts Council Korea) announced on the 23rd that it successfully held the ‘Night of Arts Patrons: Promenade’ event for cultural and artistic sponsors at the Raum Art Center in Yeoksam-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul on the 16th.

The Night of Arts Patrons event was held under the theme ‘Promenade: A Special Walk with Art.’ The event featured a classical concert by pianist Son Yeol-eum and the Going Home Project, as well as an art auction of works by 14 artists including Kwak Hoon, Kim Ku-rim, Kim Bo-hee, Kim Sun-woo, Kim Su-ja, Kim Hong-seok, Moon Hyung-tae, Park Seo-bo, Shim Moon-seop, Oh Se-yeol, Yoo Sun-tae, Lee Bae, Lee Wal-jong, and Ha Tae-im.

Jung Byung-guk, chairman of Arts Council Korea, expressed his gratitude to the 300 attendees, including members of the Arts Tree Forum, supporters of national art organizations, and art enthusiasts from various sectors of society, saying, “Unlike corporate art sponsorships approached from a management perspective, individual art sponsorships are based on affection, are continuously carried out, and tend to spread to those around them.”

Approximately 200 million KRW was raised on the day of the event, and pianist Son Yeol-eum donated her entire performance fee. Arts Council Korea stated that all the funds raised will be used to support international exchange and growth opportunities for young artists in the fields of classical music and visual arts.

Jung Byung-guk, chairman of Arts Council Korea, said, “We will strengthen our support so that more art patrons who brighten our society and enrich the cultural and artistic community will emerge,” and called for greater interest in art sponsorship from all sectors of society.
